Namibian Devil’s Claw Exporters Association Trust (NDCEAT)

The Namibia Devil’s Claw Exporters Association Trust (NDCEAT) is a national industry platform dedicated to promoting sustainable, ethical, and traceable trade in Harpagophytum (Devil’s Claw) from Namibia. Established to unite leading exporters and supply chain partners, NDCEAT works closely with local harvesters, Traditional Authorities, government bodies, and international buyers to improve practices, safeguard resources, and ensure fair benefit sharing.

NDCEAT is leading the rollout of Namibia’s GACP+ Guidelines for Devil’s Claw, developed under the GIZ BioInnovation Africa (BIA) initiative, helping exporters and value chain actors align with international standards in harvesting, processing, and biodiversity protection. The Trust also supports Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) compliance in line with Namibia’s ABS Act and the Nagoya Protocol.

Through training, roadshows, and industry coordination, NDCEAT strengthens rural livelihoods, promotes Indigenous knowledge systems, and positions Namibia as a global leader in sustainably sourced natural ingredients.

Focus Areas:

  • Sustainable harvesting and ecological resource management
  • Value chain compliance with GACP+ and ABS requirements
  • Exporter and harvester coordination
  • Stakeholder engagement and industry advocacy
